Non-Discriminatory Policy

It is the policy of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in all of its church-operated schools at all levels of education in the United States to admit students of any race, color or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded and available to students in its schools.  No discrimination is made on the basis of race in the administration of school policies, admission requirements or other school-administered programs.

Admission

An admission packet, student handbook, tuition rates and scholarship applications may be obtained online or at Mauna Loa School, 172 Kapiolani Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720 or by calling 935-1545.  Revised and current registration packets for the upcoming school year are available by February 1.

February 1 - Begin priority registration*

March 1 - MLS Scholarship application due

April 1 - MLS Scholarships awarded

May 31 - Priority registration closes**

*Priority Registration - $150/child registration fee waived
**After May 31 Mauna Loa School will accept applications until full; $150/child registration fee applies

Registration Process
  • Complete and submit a student application form
  • Submit financial assistance applications (if applicable)
  • Submit copy of birth certificate (incoming students)
  • Submit three letters of reference (incoming students in grades 2 - 12) 
  • Submit copy of latest report card (incoming students in grades 2 - 12)
  • Review and sign receipt of Student Handbook (Statement of Acknowledgement)
  • Complete an entrance interview (incoming students) *
  • Placement test (incoming students)
  • Submit a membership verification letter from your constituent church clerk (if applicable)
  • Submit registration fee (waived during Prioity Registration)
  • Sign a financial agreement and submit payment per Financial Agreement**
  • Submit Media Consent Form
  • Submit Student Information Form
  • Submit Consent to Treat Form
  • Submit Health Records (including compliance with the State health requirements concerning TB testing) as well as a release card from the applicant's former school.  Health record must include an immunization report.  Students without proper health records may not enter school.
