Mr. Joey Freitas continues at Mauna Loa School this year with 19 years of teaching experience.  Six of those years he served as Head Teacher of the Kona Adventist Christian School in Captain Cook, Hawai'i.  Mr. Freitas grew up in Hilo.  He earned a B.S. in Physical Education from Pacific Union College in Angwin, California in 1995.  He received his M.A. in Teaching from La Sierra University in Riverside, California in 2007.

Mr.  Allen Lipps is a returning staff member. Mr. Lipps served here as the principal and taught grades 5-8. Mr. Lipps graduated with an education degree from Pacific Union College in 1992. He has served in various roles in places such as Dinuba, California, Yap, Kohala, and now, Mauna Loa School. 

Teacher for K-2

Mrs. Joey Ferro is an awesome addition to our staff! She graduated with an elementary education degree from the University of Hawaii - Manoa. Each day she teaches the children crucial parts of learning: reading, spelling, simple math, days of the week, and everything else they will need to know to develop their academic skills later on!
